Welcome to Baileys Corner;
They are Loyal, Obedient, Strong willed, Intelligent, Courageous, and Affectionate! The American Pit Bull Terrier.
The American Pit Bull Terrier can be traced back to early 19th-century England, and Ireland. Originally bred for bear- and bull-baiting, a blood sport. Banned in the 1800s, the dogs were then bred for the sport of ratting and dog fighting.
Through the years the breed evolved into an all around farm dog and later European immigrants introduced the Pit Bull breed to North America.
The American Pit Bull Terrier has a very strong desire to please and has evoked more human emotional, rational and irrational response than any other breed that exists today.
Because of irresponsible pet ownership, and bad publicity the American Pit Bull Terrier has a bad rap in the dog world and they are on breed specific ban list across the nation.
How ever with proper training, extensive socialization and always leashed when outside of their territory, will respond well to confident owners who know how to establish and enforce the ground rules and boundaries.
The American Pit Bull Terrier has shown outstanding results as a guardian of property, but is at the same time considered a great canine companion.
Contrary to its reputation as an aggressive breed, a well-bred American Pit Bull Terrier is a loyal and affectionate canine companion that is great with people.
In closing, The American Pit Bull Terrier is not for everyone and you must study and research the breed to see if they would fit your environment.
