Teaching Your Dog Total Control 2018
N.I.L.I.F. Nothing in Life is Free.
Teaching your canine companion a few basic commands will make it easier to implement N.I.L.I.F. Nothing in Life is Free.
Nothing in Life is Free or N.I.L.I.F. This means exactly what it sounds like. The dog must work for everything. Working can be something as simple as following an obedience command or doing a trick, both of which will earn him what he wants or needs, be it food, a toy, or simply attention. By making your dog work for you, you are controlling his resources and establishing yourself as his Alpha.
Using positive reinforcement methods, teach your dog a few commands and/or tricks. “Sit,” “Down” and “Stay” are useful commands and “Shake,” “Speak” and “Rollover” is fun tricks to teach your dog.
Requiring a dominant dog to work for everything it wants is a safe and non-confrontational way to establish control.
And the ultimate goal is to get your canine companion under total control off leash as Milano, our female Rottweiler is demonstrating.
Nothing in Life is Free will not fix a specific problem, rather it’s a way of living with your dog that will help it behave better because it will trust and accept you as its leader.
